Power's & Company Appoints Renowned Ophthalmologist Cathleen McCabe, MD as Chief Medical Advisor

DANA POINT, Calif. & SARASOTA, Fla. – November 02, 2023 – Powers & Company, a strategic marketing firm specializing in the biosciences and healthcare sectors, today announced its appointment of renowned ophthalmologist Cathleen McCabe, M.D., as its Chief Medical Advisor. In her new role, Dr. McCabe will guide Powers & Company and its clients in evaluating bioscience innovations, building relationships with leaders and key stakeholders across healthcare and industry, and furthering the firm’s commitment to philanthropic efforts that broaden patients’ access to healthcare.

With more than 20 years of leadership and industry experience, Dr. McCabe is ideally positioned to bring tremendous value to the executive leadership team. A practicing ophthalmologist and Medical Director of The Eye Associates in Sarasota, Fla., she frequently consults for a wide range of emerging medical device and biotech companies in addition to having served as a principal investigator in many clinical trials. Dr. McCabe is also the Chief Medical Officer of Eye Health America, Chair of the Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), Co-Chief Medical Editor for Cataract Refractive Surgery Today, and Immediate Past President of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society. Dr. McCabe has authored numerous articles and lectured extensively on refractive cataract and anterior segment surgery.

Dr. McCabe also fosters improved patient access to vision care as a board member of the OOSS Gives, the charitable arm of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society, of which she is the Immediate Past President.

Dr. McCabe graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami’s School of Medicine. Her many recognitions include being named by The Ophthalmologist magazine to The Power List of the 100 most influential figures in ophthalmology and by Castle Connolly to its Top Doctor and Exceptional Women in Medicine lists across several consecutive years.
